If ever there was a reason

It has been going on for a little while now, but more and more businesses are seeing that overweight people, are taking up more of their space, and they are finally starting to cash in on it! Are you over weight? Among other things, Flying is gonna start getting more expensive for you.

Food Inc

I have not seen it yet, but the previews have me sold. If Food Inc is remotely as good as King Corn, this one is probably worth owning. People owe it to themselves to learn about what we are putting into ourselves, and why we have the obesity problems, diabetes problems and all other problems related to food, that simply did not exist on any scale close to today prior to the 80's.

Too much of a good thing

Lately I have found myself spending most of my free time, online at one main area. Geeks.pirillo.com. I have had a great deal of fun there, and am very appreciative to have met many of the people I have there. Several of them in fact are with me at other social sites as well, so it has really kind of organically grown.
I have also had my share of questionable moments there as well, where I'd felt as if I was being censored. This happened more than once, and for reasons I simply could not and still do not understand given what I see there daily. As with all things, over periods of time, I have made a few friends that I communicate with more than others, and in a very recent incident I was called a name that came with no provocation whatsoever. I was simply responding based upon the information I'd gotten from this person. Nothing in my response was meant to be abusive, nor had any malice towards this person, and yet it drew a kindof passionate hateful remark that simply makes me think, it is time to walk away from something I have spent alot of personal time building up.

That is kind of the sad part. Alot of my time has gone into that little profile page and the forums in that community. But rather than cause any more tension, or perceived anger back or forth it simply makes sense to walk away from it and focus on many of the things I already have. I should be building what I have and adding content to it as often as possible. I don't need hundreds of friends I'll likely never know, and partially doing it for the fun of some competition, to be a top 100 geek number, which is kind of easy to get sucked into.

The downside of all that, is once you do, you kind of start to easily forget why you went to that site in the very first place. Now most would not admit this, but I will. I got a little caught up in the points part of the Geeks.pirillo thing. I mean, it's kind of cool to be near the top of the leader board. But really, at the end of the day, what does it get you? Empty adulation from people who will kick you as soon as they perceive you have said something that possibly offends them? In the end, wether you meant to or not, it is something I have no control over, and refuse to have to explain myself to someone whom could snap at me at a moments notice, only to later act like nothing ever happened ? Yes, those things too have happened more than once, but the past 24 hours, pretty much was the straw that broke the back.

I mean no one any harm, and I can say without question, my writing skills are a little better than poor, but I think I express myself most of the time, with the thought of the other person reading it.
That is what this so called open community thing is all about right? Saying what's on your mind? Well, I think I may have learned my lesson. I'll keep my thoughts to myself while in any community, and on my own pages, I can unleash all day long.. Peace.

Today felt like the first day of spring

It seems it has been raining since January. And the weather has been cold, and clammy with very brief little bits of sunshine here and there but nothing lasting. Tomorrow looks to be almost 80 where I will be working. The day was just as good as it could be.

Rain Rain

It seems that we have gotten our fill of rain in the past 2 months. No snow to speak of this year, but the ground is soaked and the grass is getting up to knee high in some areas of the yard. Gotta Seed, Gotta Mow. This was the weekend for it, but we got at least another inch since yesterday.
