A weekend in Miami

I would never had guessed that I'd spend a weekend in Miami Fla, serving up to 3000 kids Ham n Cheese Sandwiches and Bagels all hours of the night and into the morning of Sunday but this is the food service business. No matter what makes you think you've seen it all, along comes another un expected curve ball.

We actually worked late into the night last night setting up the sandwiches and getting everything prepared for the truck to move to the athletic field this afternoon/evening. It is my hope that the weather which has been nothing but thunderstorms here, improves over the next 24 hours at least. While not too likely, I can always have hope. This little component down south here was an addition to my district this past August, and added 3 more to my responsibilities. Like Colorado, it is of course a great length from all of my other business, and flying has once again been added to my monthly routines.

This weekend however has me wondering a bit about my own tenure once again with those of whom I am employed with. I am now split between 2 Vice Presidents, and coming off a year where I'd made many mistakes most of which I could have controlled, but simply did not think through very well. At any rate I feel like I am in the most fragile of positions in which I have ever held in the 13+ years I have spent with this company. These past several weeks too have been a whirlwind that has kept me very occupied and away from Cookenstein, as well thoughts of the future of this particular site among others that I spend arguably a great deal of my online time with. Could this be the last version??

All the talk about Facebook

I have to admit, i use facebook, well not in the literal sense of how the average person posts to it and keeps up with their friends. I use it passively. It is one of several that I sprinkle bits and pieces of data from other social services such as Tumblr, Digg, Stumble Upon, Friendfeed, and Shareaholic, Foursquare.  It is the one place where all my stuff, aout where I'm currently at, what I view and think about current events kind of land.

That said, i am more and more bored with Facebook, and am really considering moving on from it. I am simply bored with it. And so are are the masses if the news I am reading is true. new subscribers are plummeting at Facebook, and honestly, it is just a time suck for these Mob wars and farmville games. I was hoping that it would be a way for me to connect with the few real friends I do have. It has in reality just turned into a place where some of those friends really have nothing to say, and honestly I think many of them are as bored with it as I.

Ebay the savior of my addictions

These days, or I should say the past several years, I have had this growing addiction to new technology. You could say I am a gadget hound. I always have to try the latest and greatest, and oftentimes pay a premium for it.

If it were not for Ebay, I would not be able to keep up this little habit, for ebay has allowed me the opportunity to somtimes recup more than half my costs on many items purchased. Let's face it, most technology does not hold it's value once it leaves the door, but if you keep all of the packing, take good care of the item, and can repack and ship neatly, and quickly, it certainly helps everything. I have had a tiny emoticum of success on Ebay over the past almost 5 years now come February 2010.

I reccomend it to anyone who needs to get rid of stuff in their life, but need to understand, that it is a little bit of a time investment, and you need to build your online presence, and confidence from both buyers, and sellers alike. It can be an overall very nice experience. Answer questions in a timely fashion. Don't be afraid of critisism and take it well. Be humble at all times, and understand, people are going to be naturally suspicious. It is the nature of this site, because Ebay certainly comes with it's bad guys and horror stories.

Crossing my fingers, I for one, to date have had overall positive experiences and highly reccomend it to anyone.
