May Flowers

We certainly benefit from the many rains earlier in the month. My Lillies and Snapdragons really soaked it up and look beautiful. Much like the herbs that have been benefitting. The Oregano like usual is like weeds everywhere, but the curry and Thyme is coming around too. So I have hope. I want more basil this year as do I want to see the Arugula come around.  Today was the first day in awhile I got to spend some real time in the Wilson gardens.. More of these flowers on my Smugmug homepage.

Driving into Summer

The hot days of summer are around the corner. I'm already feeling it in the humid state that is MD. In my travels that take me to DC, VA, and FLA of course it's even hotter the further south we go. We have fortunately had some great rains, that have really helped my second garden recently planted in the past couple of weeks. This years, garden more simple. In other words, if I get this one right, or most everything grows properly, I'll try and expand on it maybe next year.

Roma Tomatoes, Beefsteak tomatoes, Scallions, Chives, Lavender, Sunflowers, Basil, Fennell, Spinach, Arugula, Carrots.

I am not sure why I put the root vegetable in there, but last year, nothing came from the carrot portion of the Garden, so I have better hope this being much closer to the planting time table according to the Farmers Almanac. A great resource by the way.

Garden Update

Week 4 and the corn is over my knees and almost at my hips. I am blown away at how things are taking off. I am however running behind of my maintenance though. I have to set up some runners for the Green beans that are taking off too. The Squash too is moving along, and the tomatoes need some support.

That said, I am excited as to what August will bring, with some possible veggies to harvest!!

3+ weeks, and every little plant

Has now come out of the ground. Going to the end of 3 now into 4 weeks. The corn and green beans are moving right along. If you can believe it I actually stuffed a couple of potato plants in there behind the tomatoes. This is going to be a mess at the end of July/August.

A Week later, and look what happens!

I t is amazing to see one short week later, so much activity happening. Clearly I have planted too many seeds though. I may have some strangulation taking place. In the coming days, I have been told I should put some stakes in to give the beans a place to climb. The same, I am told for the Tomatoes. I planted some Carrots, Zuchinni, and Squash as well. I might do some potatoes, but I think that may be it as this little patch of land will be stuffed and possibly overflowing in 60 days if I am so lucky.

Getting out in it in the morning, and just doing some basic weeding, and watering, seems and feels so Zen like, and peaceful. It is like I am at one and peace with myself completely. Just doing something that feels so right. And so far as organic as I can possibly be.
